Le professeur centrafricain Gaston N’Guerekata, lauréat du prix NOBLE 2009, recevra le 2 avril prochain des mains de la première dame américaine Michelle Obama sa récompense, a appris l’Acap de sources concordantes.

Le Professeur des mathématiques recevra une médaille d’or, un diplôme et une compensation monétaire pour son expertise et son rayonnement hors pairs dans son domaine d’expertise : les mathématiques.

Gaston Mandata N'Guérékata (Biography)

Morgan State University, USA

Gaston Mandata N'Guérékata earned a Ph.D. degree in mathematics at the University of Montreal, Montreal, QC, Canada, under Professor Samuel Zaidman's supervision and attended the University of California at Berkeley on a postdoctorate program. He is twice tenured as a Full Professor at the University of Bangui in the Central African Republic and Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md, USA (since 2003). He is a Fulbrighter, African Academic of Sciences Fellow, and a Member of the Council for African American Researchers in the Mathematical Sciences. In addition, he received numerous honors from France, USA, and the Central African Republic for his contributions to research and higher education. He is the Chief Editor and Founder of the International Journal of Evolution Equations, Associate Editor at the Applicable Analysis, and a member of the editorial boards four more journals. He authored over 90 research publications, including 4 research monographs in the areas of evolution equations, harmonic analysis, and the theory of almost periodic and almost automorphic functions. He was the Claytor-Wooddard Invited Lecturer at the Mathematics Joint Meetings in San Antonio, Tex, USA, in January 2006.

Gaston Mandata N'guerekata (Morgan State University, Baltimore, USA)

Gaston Mandata N'guerekata a reçu son PhD à  l'université de Montréal, au Canada, en 1980 et a poursuivi des  recherches  post-doctorales à  l'université de Californie-Berkeley. Il a enseigné à l'université du Québec à  Trois-Rivières, à  l'Ecole polytechnique de Montréal (Canada), à  l'université de Bangui (République centrafricaine) et à  l'université de Daemen (Buffalo, New York, USA) avant de joindre l'université d'Etat  Morgan State en 1996 où il est présentement professeur titulaire et chef du département de Mathématiques. Dr N'Guerekata est l'un des leaders dans le monde en équations différentielles. Il a obtenu plusieures distinctions dont celui du meilleur chef de département de sa faculté, du meilleur chercheur de sa faculté. Il est rédacteur en chef de l'International Journal of Evolution Equations et de Communications in Mathematical Analysis, rédacteur adjoint de  Global Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics et rédacteur de plusieurs autres journaux de haut niveau en mathématiques  Il est auteur de qatre livres de mathématiques dont le dernier sorti chez Springer en 2005 et de plus de soixante publications de haut niveau en équations différentielles,  semigroupes d'opérateurs, théorie spectrale de fonctions bornees et sur les fonctions périodiques et automorphiques. Dr Gaston N'guerekata a été professeur aassocié dans plusieurs établissements : université de Montréal,  université de Laval (Canada), université de Californie à Berkeley, université de l'Etat de New York à  Buffalo, université de Memphis (Tennessee), Virginia Tech (USA), université de Delaware (USA), université des Sciences et Technologies de Chine à Hefei (RPC) et il visitera l'université de Paris I-Pantheon-Sorbone pour les mois de juin et juillet 2006. Dr N'guerekata fut aussi doyen, vice-recteur et recteur de l'université de Bangui. Il a ensuite été haut commissaire et ministre de la Science, de la Technologie et de l'Environnement, puis Ministre et porte-parole du chef de l'Etat de la République centrafricaine. Il est Commandant de l'Ordre du Merite centrafricain et a reçu  la Légion d'Honneur de la France. Il a également participé a  la conference des Nations Unies sur l'environnement et le développement tenu à  Rio de Janeiro, au Brésil, en 1992, comme porte-parole du groupe ministériel  africain. 

Gaston Mandata N'guérékata received his undergraduate degree and Ph.D. from the University of Montreal in Canada.

Dr. N'guérékata attended the University of California at Berkeley as a post-doctotal program Fulbright scholar. He taught at the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres, the Polytechnical School of Montreal (Canada), the University of Bangui (Central African Republic) and Daemen College (Buffalo) before joining Morgan State University (1996). Dr Gaston N'guérékata was a visiting scholar in several institutions: University of Montreal,Laval University (Canada), University of California at Berkeley, State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a full Professor and a former Dean, Vice-Rector and Rector of the University of Bangui. Currently, he is Chair of the Mathematics Department of Morgan State University.

Dr N'guerekata was High Commissioner and deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment from 1987 to 1992, then Minister and Spokesman to the Head of State (1992-1993) in Central African Republic.He is Commander in the order of Merit and a recipiend of France's Legion of Honor. He has participated in many internatinal conferences worldwide on Science, Environment and Higher Education. As a former Vice-President of the African Ministerial Conference on Environment (AMCEN), he attended the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992, as Spokesman of the African Ministerial group.
